Training Gives You the Knowledge Needed to Perform Your Role

To meet the mission set out by HSPD-12, the GSA's MSO developed USAccess. This program enables Agencies to properly request, issue, and manage the PIV Credential's life cycle in a manner consistent with federal policy. Your role as a PIV Credential holder and a Sponsor for the USAccess program are vitally important to maintaining its security and integrity.

When you have successfully completed this training module, you will have knowledge in these areas:

  • Overview and background information about the USAccess program,
  • Comprehension of the Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Credential and its use,
  • Specific requirements for performing the Sponsor role in the USAccess system, including the proper procedures for sponsoring applicants, including:
    • Reassigning sponsorship
    • Sponsoring new Applicants
    • Editing Sponsorship information
    • Creating requests for credential reprint, reissue, and certificate update
    • Resending Sponsorship Complete and Credential Check-in emails
  • Requisite material for applying the appropriate security measures and protecting personal privacy information.

To officially complete the Sponsor training course, and be granted privileges for your designated role, you MUST successfully complete the Final Course Test at the end of the training modules. Print a copy of your certificate and send it to the Role Administrator in your Agency.
